Hotel = price per night × nights × rooms; two nights (Sat, May 29 to Mon, May 31, 2027) is only a starting point, so change it. Getting there and food are per person, kids included. Cheapest way to go to the Indy 500
- Get general admission. The cheapest ticket: in and onto the spectator mounds, no seat.
- Bring the kids free. Children 15 and under get in free with an adult who has a paid general admission ticket.
- Buy early. IMS says prices step up once 2027 tickets go on sale (Wed, Oct 28, 10 a.m. ET).
- Pack a cooler. Your own food, beer or wine, nothing in glass.
- Book shuttle or parking and a hotel early. In 2026 race-day parking and shuttle passes sold out, and Speedway's few hotels go first.

When do Indy 500 tickets go on sale?
Sale date set Indy 500 2027 tickets go on sale Wed, Oct 28, 2026 at 10 a.m. ET, per IMS. Renewals and applications have closed.

Is the Indy 500 sold out?
Not for 2027 yet. IMS said the grandstands sold out for both the 2025 and 2026 races, and every 2026 race-day parking lot and RV camping lot on its pages was marked sold out. Buy when 2027 tickets go on sale: Wed, Oct 28, 10 a.m. ET (IMS).

Indy 500 general admission vs grandstand
General admission
Gets you in and onto the spectator mounds, with no seat. The cheapest way in. Children 15 and under get in free with an adult who has a paid general admission ticket.
Reserved grandstand
Your own numbered seat, and it gets you onto the grounds too. Higher rows see more of the track. Everyone in a reserved seat needs their own ticket, whatever their age.

Indy 500 seating chart: which stands have a roof?
- No roof, no seat backs: Grandstands H, J and G, and all the Vistas.
- Covered, with seat backs: parts of the Penthouse and Box seats, in the higher rows.
- Tower Terrace: benches with backs.
- Anywhere else: ask the IMS ticket office if a roof matters to you.
For the layout, use IMS's maps hub (3D seating map, open gates and stands). In an open stand, bring sunscreen, a hat and rain gear.

Indy 500 qualifying tickets
Qualifying is Saturday and Sunday, May 22–23, 2027, when the 33-car grid is set: a cheap, relaxed way to see the cars at full speed. 2027 prices are not out yet.
Indy 500 Snake Pit tickets
The Snake Pit runs on race day, Sun, May 30, 2027. The Snake Pit is a race-day concert inside the track. Its wristband is sold separately and won't get you through the gates on its own, so you need a race ticket too: any race ticket (GA or reserved) plus a Snake Pit wristband gets you in. 2027 prices are not out yet.

Indy 500 parking
IMS sells parking one pass per vehicle, and the vehicle has to fit a standard 10 x 20 ft space, which rules out buses and large trucks. For 2026, every race-day lot on the IMS parking page showed as sold out. After the race, lots are held until the crowds on foot clear, which IMS warns may mean waiting as long as an hour. 2027 parking isn't on sale yet.

Indy 500 camping
Camping is sold per vehicle: a pass covers one vehicle in one space, and a towed vehicle needs its own RV pass and has to fit in that same space. For 2026, every RV and pull-behind lot on the IMS camping page showed as sold out. Passes come with a set number of wristbands, which you need to get into the lots closest to the track, and IMS sets fixed check-in and check-out windows for race weekend with no early entry, so plan your arrival around them.

Shuttle
IMS runs race-day-only shuttles from Indianapolis International Airport and from downtown Indianapolis. Keep the wristband you're given on the way in: it's your ticket for the ride back. Shuttle passes for 2026 were sold out online and could not be bought on race day.
